What is a responsible salary to ask for as a dietitian in the greater Seattle area? Does anyone else feel like the term “manage up” has been twisted from meaning “try to set expectations for your availability and process” to “do both your job AND the partners job?” So many partners just ignore email requests and pings until everything is last minute or on fire. Started biglaw without using a monitor, as I’m still not settled in an apartment. I’ve made a ton of mistakes during closing, and feel very bad about my speed and errors since I think a monitor would have helped. But was this a huge mistake, does anyone else work off of their laptop sometimes ?

I want to be good at my craft. I sometimes do extra reading or research because I want to improve and it's honestly more interesting than Netflix.

I also wonder if this is unhealthy bc I know ppl whose only sense of identity is from success at work, and I don't want to be like that.

Is it a bad idea to accept a class year bump if I lateral? I worked for a year in-house after law school before joining a firm as a first year associate. The lateral offers I've received would bump me up a year so that my firm class year matches my law school graduation year.
