Associates who get all their work from one partner, do you ever tell them when you feel you're at capacity?

Baby due end of Jan and wife taking full maternity leave (12 wks) and then back to work. Considering taking paternity (16 wks) after that. How and when do I tell my various teams and file paperwork?

I’m have a new theory about why juniors always feel like idiots and wanted to see if anyone else thinks this makes sense. Is this just because I never get to work with other juniors and don’t see the mistakes they make, and that it’s relatively normal? How to handle working with someone who frustrates you immensely? I work with someone who is one level above me hierarchically and is an ultimate micromanager (not one agenda or recap can be without edits) and is rude about establishing that they have dominance. The more senior leaders on the team are awesome and so is the client. It’s this one coworker who just got promoted and is now stepping on me constantly. Thanks!

OR circulating nurse here. Will preface this by saying I have the utmost respect for CSFAs in the OR setting. General corporate in NY looking to lateral into tech transactions at one of the EC/VC firms. I’ve heard that I may get a class cut if I make the move but I’m ok with that. My worry is that EC/VC firms are crazy busy work differently from general corp, I also won’t have control over my hours, and potentially worse based on how billing differs (block billing on a few clients vs having to work with 15 or more startups). Is the same true for tech trans or IP group?
