More buzz words and initiatives. We need more initiatives people!

Easy 4 step solution:
1. Change compensation package to remove something you would need to pay out on separation
2. Layoffs under the guise of performance issues
3. Hire more people than you need at cheaper rate
4. Fire them too once things even out

Set very low expectations for raises and bonuses this year. START NOW. No firm can beat what the market is paying for talent, so under promise with low expectations. That way people will feel grateful when they get a 2% COLA in a few months.

When an organization is not adequately staffed, be sure increase the number of meetings to address how to allocate people. Forcing negotiations at multiple org levels around the same decisions will ensure everyone is totally aligned.

This accomplishes three things:
1) Everyone is mad at each other since they’re competing for people
2) They’re confused and not able to pay attention to the root issue of chronic under staffing
3) They’re distracted from blaming mgmt for the root cause.

If you’re not competent enough to solve real problems in the organization, create a few minor problems that you can solve and look like a hero.

But you have to ensure the org feels the pain of your decision before promising to fix it. It’s like the three parts of a magic trick: the pledge where you float your idea, the turn where you inflict your idea, and the prestige where you fake a way to fix the mess you made on purpose.
