How would y’all approach applying to an agency’s “General Application” posting (ie. the role isn’t named, you’re just submitting your resume)? Any successes? Strategies? Should I cold email the recruiter/HR person in addition?

I wouldn’t apply. I’ve always assumed it means they don’t have an opening and just put “general” so jobseekers don’t write them off or forget about them

I did this for an agency. Only got a generic email weeks later saying “thanks for your interest, your skills are a match for the positions we typically hire for. we would love to keep your application on record and connect with you for future opportunities as they arise.” Always wondered if I should reach out to the recruiter and make a connection or not.

like

Hit and miss. I did it before and I was reached out a week after because there had been an immediate need to fulfill the position that I had the skillset for. I think often times though it's the company's method to build a list of prospects that do next out to no responses at all.

I would guess you’d have better luck using keywords in your LinkedIn plus “open to work” activated so recruiters see your profile. It’s kind of the same thing and works in real-time vs a dead inbox...
But I can see the completist appeal like, “well I’ve done everything I can! 🤷‍♀️” as we wait to see if the economy fully craters...
And then yes, cold emails/LinkedIns to try to make a connection to someone within can work...

I’ve never heard of this, following.

So instead of having job postings for an AS, it’s a “general application for Acct Management” or instead of CD, it’s a “general application for Creative”, etc.

If you see an open job posting at a company you want to work for, what steps do you take to apply? I’ve been told that cold applying and making no contacts is usually not going to lead to anything, and that’s been true in my experience. But should I reach out to someone first? Should i apply and then email someone? In HR? Or someone who’d be directly supervising me? Or someone at my level? And what should i say? Thanks!

Hi everybody! 😊
I've been working as a Junior Analog Design Engineer for a year and half.
I received a proposal for a Senior Analog Designer role from Bosch in the same city where I am currently working.
Should I wait and build up a few more years of experience before accepting a Senior role or should I jump in and work to fill the gap?
Next year, there will be an important deadline for the project I'm working on and my resignation could be critical for the team, how would you deal with it?
