Well it looks like if you get it they’ll throw you into the fire which means either they’re a mess or they’ll give you great experience.
Sometimes those opportunities can built your resume but sometimes they just add stress to your life. If you get the offer think through it hard, WLB, what this means for your experience and what are the pros and cons.
What type of job is this for? It’s very common in investment banking to have first year analysts interview MBA candidate associates and we’d make them ask specific technical questions based on a script. Sounds like that’s what happened here.
Younger manager, I’m ok with. Less experienced… probs wouldn’t take the offer
I would think it would be a good opportunity to show you would be a good mentor or if you just want to work with more senior people
I would wonder why they had someone with no experience at all to interview you.
20+ years in financial services (JPM and UBS), I have never seen this. It would be helpful to know which firm this is.
Depends on which interview it was.
I had 3 interviews and the last one was with someone my level just to see if I would be a good fit.
It’s a trap!
I would be caught off guard. But that shouldn't be a reason to use your seniority. Just who him/her that you are qualified for the position.
