I am 54 years old and have been main earner. My wife has been in workforce for more than 10 years with breaks. She qualifies for Social Security when she reaches retirement age.
My question is if I die before reaching retirement age, what happens to my social security, does my wife qualify to claim it?
Just doing planning on making her secure if I don’t live long enough.
Obviously I am assuming social security will be available in another 25 to 20 years 😜

I am 24 saving up for my first property to purchase at the end of 2021 / early 2022 in the Long Island, NY area.

I’d like to save up around $50K in my HYSA for a property <$400K in LI. Does this sound reasonable?

Currently 25 years old.
Goals:
* Own a home in a HCOL
* 2 kids (eventually)
* Retire at 50 on $125k/year.

Envelope math:
* $125k/year would require an investment portfolio of ~$3M.
* Targeting a $2M home (split with partner)
* 2 kids - $1M to raise both (including college fund, split with partner)
* $500K buffer for unexpected expenses
* 33% tax

Therefore, 6.5-7M retirement savings needed. To hit this (assuming 6% return after inflation), I’d need to save ~$110k/year.

General Question I started tuition reimbursement last year in August. I since have an interview with another job that is paying a lot more. Had a consultation with an attorney for legal advice on my options to address a late filing for a taxable event. They recommended me two options: file or not file. In order to help him with the consultation he asked to send him additional information like bank statements and work authorization which I sent.

If I decide to not file or go to another attorney if the fees are high, can the attorney still report me or whistle blow me to the tax authorities?

My ex is oppose to my family member staying in the same house and decided to serve a notice to vacancy. However, I live in CA (community property state), and both of our names are on the title.
