Ask the company you’re getting an offer from to help you cover the cost of paying it back. That should be in your salary negotiation convo.
Hi I oversee the tuition reimbursement at my company.
I would suggest to look at their policy, since all companies are different. It shouldn’t come out of your 401k. I can see them taking out of your last paycheck, PTO payout, and/or setting up a monthly installment plan for you to pay it back.
But I take a look at the policy and talk to your HR mgr/BP.
Congrats & good luck!
There's definitely a resource available in your HR department that can walk you through it. But most likely you will have to pay
The last place I worked made me pay it back because I didn't stay for one full year after they paid it out. They are still sending me bills for reimbursement of it.
Yeah that's what I come across too generally - if you leave within a certain timepoint, you gotta pay it back. You can do it via installment or in a lump sum
Anyone know of some great remote positions in people operations division? Currently I am a program manager in customer relationship management. Live in the Louisville area.
Some programs are a reimbursement which means you paid out of pocket and can claim it back when you pass with a certain criteria . Generally if you leave before you have finished the class you won’t get it reimbursed by the company but u should ask the new one if u can apply that there
You'll probably have to pay back what you've borrowed
Awesome question, I was actually going to ask this myself.
Good luck with the new position!
I currently have 158 days 7hours and 40 seconds until I can leave without having to payback my tuition reimbursement.. but who’s counting?
