I am a remote consultant since 2022 earning US$10K monthly, with no other benefits rather than working from home. I'm in Oslo, mostly due to my wife's job which it's here. However, I have my doubts regarding my remote job. I pay taxes but have no pension contr., no private insurance, or other "normal" benefits, maybe I have "unlimited" days off, which it's a bit confusing.

What is a normal/good salary for a foreign consult software engineer living in Oslo? which benefits usually you have?

At 2 YOE and a PhD you should sit around 800k in tech. consulting, much lower than anything comparable in the US but you get the socialist state in return. Basic healthcare is free, and you're not going to die on a sidewalk in front of a hospital if you don't have health insurance.

Most large companies offer some benefits in addition to salary, usually a combination of pension and insurance. The larger the company, the more structured these benefits are (don't expect a lot from startups/scaleups)

Really depends on the company / product experience

More than 2 years of experience. I don't know if a Norwegian PhD counts as experience

No pension saving is actually illegal, because they are obliged to safe a certain amount according to Norwegian law. You being a Norwegian citizen that is

Having a side hustle would help as second source of income.... Whereby you give investment plan a trial..

New fish looking for career guidance.

I'm a corporate recruiter with 3 years of experience. Finishing my degree in HRM 5/2022. I'm thinking of getting my SHRM -CP shortly after graduation.

I'm not sure of where to go after that, but I doubt I will stick with recruiting or my current firm.

Has anyone here started off in recruiting and branched out to other HR functions? Do you like your new role? Do you wish you stuck with recruiting?
