I am a remote employee who has company supplied equipment. I have packaged all of it and returned. Today the agent wants a video call to see what’s packaged before I send it. This is the first this was mentioned and she says she is worried that I would be accused of stealing.

Based on this conversation I’m worried of 1 of 2 things. 1. She will claim that I stole. 2. That she will withhold my final check.

Any advice?

1. Wth is a video call gonna stop? After the call someone could still keep the equipment the wanted by just taking it out of the box out and sending the rest back.
2. They can’t withhold your final check. Per the FSLA they have to pay you all your wages due on the next pay cycle regardless if equipment isn’t returned. They would have to take legal action to get back any money for any unreturned equipment.

The agent is good at veiling- in this case she doesn’t want me to get in trouble since in the past corporate filed a stolen items report on the team member. Which is a thinly veiled threat in my approximation. She is an inspiring corporate sales leader and the quintessential idealist on how to do the work.

Assuming you got instructions and followed them (and this wasn’t one of the steps) I would politely tell her to go pound sand. If she feels theres a gap in the process, she should create a deck with her proposals and circle back with HR. Compliment her for her out of the box thinking.

So, to confirm you did already ship it? Maybe go back to where you shipped it off from and ask if they can look on their computer to see if they can list off what was sent? Or supply you with a receipt that it was sent off.

Yes and supplied the tracking information to the agent.

You may want to reach out to the company. This is off topic for this bowl.

Wow. Glad I don't work for whomever that is. Curious if you quit or were let go? When I went fully remote, everything was shipped to me. They had a record of what they sent me. Laptop I already had but they have the serial #. Docking station, monitors (2) and a gazillion power cords I don't even need. They have a record of every single item they sent. Stands to reason that what you return should match that record. I bought my own risers, keyboards and mouse.
