I would work directly under / with the VP of Finance for a real estate company. The VP of Finance wants to retire in 3 years, having me take over for her. She is offering me $100,000 a year. However I am wondering if I should tell her I want a higher salary, like $150,000. What would you do?

Im a pastry cook with 4yrs experience and the average salary start for this position is now at $22/hr here in vegas, especially in the strip. But cooking/baking is not my passion. So im changing into veterinary medicine and im seeing that the starting rate for a vet tech is around $16-18. Why is that?? Why are people in the vet med industry being paid so low?? Something needs to change. Labor of love aint enough for the people in this job.
