I did a food truck project this year that was awesome. I would search it on TpT, that's where I bought the packet. I went a step further and had kids (if they wanted) make a model of their food truck and bring in samples of their food if they'd like! It was unit rate mostly. They loved it!
Hi there. I work in a PBL school and teach 8th grade Pre Algebra. I will post a few links of resources that I use.

For what unit? Or just a general one? Our math book has something at the end of each unit or we come up with it.
I would love a ratio and proportion one if there are any suggestions.
Cooking? Take recipes and multiply them. Maybe you are hosting Thanksgiving and have several recipes to prepare for several people.
Yes. We have done making cookies in teams and share with each other.
What is a PBL?
Problem Based Learning. Kids learn by doing practical things, not just theoretical actions.

You mentioned ratio and Proportions project. I had students take a candy bar (or whatever) and make a large or small model of it using scale
For a scale factor project, i have students scale up a coloring book picture of an animal And we grid out a section of lawn ave spray paint the blue whale, elephant, giraffe in the school lawn by the bus lane it's awesome!!
