I am an immigrant, living in the USA since 8 years. I like trump and all my friends don't like him. I feel what he says is the bitter truth no one wants to hear, am I even in the ballpark?

No, his language is divisive and hateful. His "policies" have no plan for execution. He doesn't care enough to develop thoughtful policy positions. His demeanor is that of a petulant child. He has no principles and changes stance with the wind.

Hilary is evil, but at least she's a known evil. If Trump were to actually execute every half-brained idea of his, we would be far worse off than another 4-8 years of Obama/Clinton policies.

I'm voting Johnson.

Trump has no political experience. You don't just get elected president and start passing laws, you need to work with others, even those you don't agree with to get them passed. Everything I see of him tells me he will not be able to work with people across the aisle to get things done. He doesn't seem to have the attention span to directly answer questions about how he plans to execute his promises let alone actually implement them.

Nope.

Trump is a sociopath, incompetent business man, sexual assaulter, and has the attention span of a flea.

All he does is say what people want to hear, and these people are usually the ones that can't think on their own

S&1, Trump does not own most of those buildings, they sold the branding. So some other developer-owner pays trump royalties for that.

like

@DD1, if your friend's dad is stupid enough to support a man who'd deport him and bomb his country into oblivion, then I don't know what to say. He needs to get some critical thinking skills. I just can't fathom any person who is an immigrant or non-white or non-male supporting this sociopath.

like

I don't think Trump actually wants to be president. Wanted a strong showing to boost his brand, but never thought he would actually win.

Those that think Trump is a successful businessman ought to read the below article from Fortune which attempts to rationalize his true net worth and provides an overview of his past business dealings:

"When Trump Hotels first went public in 1995, its big holding was a single casino: the Trump Plaza. Early the following year, Trump Hotels bought the Trump Taj Mahal, billed as the “Eighth Wonder of the World,” for $898 million. In the transaction, Trump Hotels took on a lot of really expensive debt—$817 million in junk bond borrowings at 11.25% interest. From the start, the Taj was losing money because of its big interest burden. “People will be shocked when they hear the numbers. The numbers are just huge,” said Trump at the time, hyping the merger.

Trump wasn’t done buying casinos—from Trump. In June 1996 he announced the purchase of another of his casinos, Trump’s Castle. Whereas he’d held just half the equity in the Taj, he owned 100% of the Castle. Trump Hotels agreed to buy the Castle for about $520 million—and Trump gave himself a premium. The announced price was a staggering 18 times cash flow (twice what the Taj had fetched). It’s not even clear the Castle was worth its debt load of over $350 million.

It didn’t take long for the debt to take its toll. When Trump Hotels went public, it had carried just $494 million in long-term debt; by the end of the next year, after the two big purchases, its borrowings had ballooned to $1.7 billion. By 2002, Trump Hotels’ debt was $2.1 billion, and its leverage ratio had expanded to 27, approaching the levels that sank Lehman Brothers during the financial crisis.

From its IPO in 1995 through two separate bankruptcies in 2004 and 2009, Trump Hotels—and its successor, Trump Entertainment—never made money. Year after year its operating profits were decimated by gigantic interest costs. Over the almost 15 years that Trump served as chairman, the casino company posted net losses, excluding extraordinary items, totaling nearly $1.7 billion."

His trade policy is the exact opposite of that. It is what people want to hear rather than the truth.

My best friend is Afghan and her dad loves Trump-- he says even though he says some stuff that offends people, he's the only one bringing to light the root cause of some of our global issues (i.e. ISIS). I know a lot of people hate him but it's food for thought to think about why an Afghan Muslim immigrant is in such support of him

Op vote what you think is right. Half of these clowns forget that congress is the real power. I'd rather have a guy with no experience in there with nothing to lose than Hillary trying to make a buck in the long run. If you don't agree no problem. It's your choice no one else do what you think is right

like

Why the hell do ppl think say that Hillary is evil? She is not worse than any other politician. Trump on the other end...

No- at least Hilary has experience with international issues. Our choices are not great but Trump reminds me of Hitler

Hi, I have been working in a neo-bank scale up for the past year. I’m getting paid relatively well with stock options that vest over 4 years. There are also talks internally about the company potentially IPO-ing in the next 1-2 years.

I just got an offer from a smaller startup who are giving me a 20% increase over what I’m currently getting, but they are unlikely to be publicly listed anytime soon.

Should I take the offer and potentially lose out on vesting £50k+ (pre-stocks) worth of options?

So i have been fortunate that i have managed to go through my career without the need for a degree. I was lucky enough to have been hired by one of the worlds top consulting firms, worked with a whole lot of big clients and travelled a lot. It's gotten to the point where I am not even asked about the lack of a degree on my resume. Personally though, it bothers me. I have a whole bunch of certifications in my industry…but just no formal degree. (cont'd)
