Does anyone have experience interviewing with Deloitte Internal Services? I had my final interview a week and a half ago, and received positive feedback throughout. The hiring manager had positive things to say and mentioned they hoped to make a decision by the end of last week. It’s now Friday the week after. The role still shows as “Interviews in Process.” We did discuss potential start dates, but no salary. Any experience with receiving offers for an internal services role? Is this common?
KPMG for Cybersecurity. Why or why not?

I would go for the medium company. A sure thing and a good paycheck is not something to give up in this economy. That's just my opinion, but that's what I would take. You can always apply to Deloitte later.
CCIC1 Are you working in Tech? That seems like a question from someone who is not.
The job market is TERRIBLE right now. There have been constant lay offs for months from pretty much every company. And getting hired for a software developer role right now is not an easy thing to do. That's what they mean by "in this economy"
Keep your integrity. Thank them for the contractor offer but let them know professionally that you are entertaining full time employee offers.
Deloitte is not as prestigious as you think. What is your rationale for thinking an unstable contract role would compare to an employment with 2x the money?
Always chase the money
The medium company option pays more and appears to be more secure and safer. You should clearly take it.
There’s nothing special about Deloitte. Maybe if this was google or McKinsey it might be worth considering the contractor role, but even then, a bird in the hand beats two in the bush.
Agreed. A future promise of a job in this market can’t be trusted.
I’ve worked with Deloitte on projects and looked at applying there because I have a good many references but have consistently found they underpay, stacked against market rate, for the bulk of roles.
If you want to be a consultant, sure, do a Big 4 firm for a bit. But for non-consulting roles, I don’t think the name brings much prestige to your resume, to be honest. Unless you LOVE your role/team/culture, feel sad to leave, and semi-confident of near-term conversion, I’d go with the medium company with more pay.
Its easier to grow faster and learn more in medium sized companies, and being paid more now just sets a new baseline of confidence and salary standards for you which will quite possibly accelerate the rest of your career moves.
Taking a high paying role was instrumental for my early career progression for that reason.
Good luck with the choice! We’d love to hear where you land :)
You already have Deloitte on your resume through the internship. If seeing your work is not enough for them to offer you what you are worth, leave. If sight unseen another company offers more that should tell you something about the culture in each workplace.
Be honest with Deloitte. Thank them for the opportunity and tell them that you have a full time job offer with benefits and cannot afford to not accept it. This is very understandable. Mention that you would always be interested in returning to Deloitte if a full time position should open up. They will keep u on their radar.
Contracts are the first on the chopping block for layoffs - go with the sure thing
Figure out which is going to create the most impact and skills on your resume. Companies pay for that, not for names.
Sounds like you have 2 in the hand, 1 in the bush. I’d go full-time higher paying. Plus, you’ll be able to use your experience and higher pay at the medium company to negotiate better options in the future.
Your initial pay packet sets the stage for your salary progression down the line. And hey, it's a full-time gig we're talking about here. Your next role will likely be another full-time position with a better pay package, whether that's with Deloitte or elsewhere.
Take double the money. You will learn a lot more at a medium size company than the abyss of a consulting firm. Believe me, the experience will matter
I've been in the IT field for 20+ years. I've learned a number of things in that time. Most of my time was spent as a contractor. Contractor life comes with the benefit of learning a number of things and growing your skills set to meet the needs of the contract. There is a major downside though. Contracts end and you can easily find yourself collecting unemployment while pursuing new opportunities. Not the ideal situation. Full time positions are usually a much more stable choice.
I don’t understand why you want to go back to the internship?
I will advise move on to the medium company since you have done the internship with them.
Go for the money
Chase, that, cash.
