Although Amazon has instituted a hiring freeze and layoffs are probably on their way, I went through the loop for a security engineer position at AWS. Before I attended the final interviews, Amazon placed the hiring freeze and called me to ask if I wanted to go ahead or cancel my application. I decided do go ahead Right now I'm waiting for their response and the position I applied to changed from "under consideration" to "no longer under consideration". Thoughts?

It's brutal out there. Highly experienced people can't find jobs. People with no experience are going to find it nearly impossible. I wish your wife luck.
Thank you appreciate it.
What’s her actual work experience? It’s a rough time to enter the market with no experience right now. She may need to look into other options such as internships or adjacent fields to get an income and some work experience.
Sometimes it’s also easier to shift jobs from within a company. You may start in a department you aren’t 100% happy with, but in a couple years, you can switch to something better when an opportunity presents itself. Already having experience with the company and doing some internal networking can go a long way.
She’s been applying to contract and full time roles, but I will try to tell her to look for contract work again. We had a convo about it and I told her to just keep applying as she seems to have lost hope in her landing a good job. It’s really unfortunate how things in our industry have become.

Ive been looking for work for 6 months to the day today. I'm having great conversations for amazing roles when they happen, but nothing has materialized yet.
Hopefully something works out for you soon, you got this!!
Networking is mad underrated for landing that first US job. My wife was in a kinda similar spot after getting her master's and the thing that actually helped most wasn't just applying online, but reaching out to people who were already working in PM or at companies she liked (even if just for a 10 min Zoom chat). There's honestly zero shame in cold messaging, especially when people have also gone through the grind, they tend to give solid advice or even refer you if they vibe with your story.
Honestly, I also told her to make sure her resume was getting through those ATS filters. Most of our friends kept applying for months and just hit black holes 'til they realized their resume wasn't even readable by the software companies use. There's a bunch of resume checkers you can try like ResumeJudge, Jobscan, and Resume Worded to see exactly which keywords or formatting issues are messing things up. Feels wild to say but sometimes it's as small as fixing a header or picking up a couple technical terms.
If she gets super discouraged, maybe try a couple mock interviews or tap into alumni networks at her MBA school. The PM space is weirdly gatekept but once a manager or lead gets what you're about, things move fast. What roles/industries is she gunning for specifically? Sometimes targeting startups over FAANG-level companies helps you get that first break and move up from there.
