I have a dumb question - what are you doing to learn SQL, Python and Pandas? Taking courses, watching videos, playing around with it?
You should start working on your CFE certification
Hi, thank you! I have been seriously considering it- the CFE will be very informative for me given my audit background. I am planning to start the course soon.
What firm do you work at? Try and get a transfer or some experience with the forensic group.
That’s an excellent suggestion — I’m currently in assurance, though my firm doesn’t have a forensic group. I’m planning to seek out external networking or part-time project opportunities to start gaining forensic experience.
CFE is easy to obtain and highly recognizable. Since you’re already a CPA, CFF is available to you and will be very informative.
But truthfully, certifications/courses are just rubber stamps. Nothing beats networking and first-hand experience. If you want to break into the field, go out and start talking to people who are already in it
Hi: I really appreciate this perspective. You’re absolutely right — networking and real-world exposure matter just as much as certifications. I’ll be pursuing the CFE/CFF while also connecting with professionals in the field. If anyone is open to sharing their experience or insights, I’d be grateful to connect.
