Out of curiosity. How would a company view a potential candidate who has a period of unemployment to study for the CPA. I am considering to start studying for the exam but I know I would need to leave my employer in order to give 110%. I am contemplating the idea of at least passing one part while employed. Then leaving my employer to study FAR. I am considering to leave my current employer anyways, so it’s more of how my future employer would view that lapse.

I've been in merchant sales for a large bank the last several years looking to do a pivot. Any suggestions for a sales position for someone who's done outside sales for years but not in the tech industry?

I work in insurance. I was working for an Allstate agent and was fired the day after my grandmothers funeral for being “unenthusiastic in our morning meeting”. Now I’m having anxiety searching for a job. I don’t think I want to sell anymore yet every single recruiter I interview with says I should, that I have a “salesperson mentality”. I’m burnt out. Has anyone else felt this way? How did handle it? Is there a different career path I can take or am I destined to sell insurance forever?

What certifications can I earn to increase my market value coming out of college? I’m graduating with a marketing and digital applications co-major and I have 2 HubSpot certs (Digital Advertising and Social Media Marketing) + relevant internships. I’m just trying really hard to get over 50K in Indianapolis (I sincerely can’t afford to accept anything lower) and being a new grad seems to REALLY be working against me no matter what I do. What’s the best way to get out of small law? I am a junior partner and don’t want to be running a law firm by myself in 5-10 years. The mid-level partners are not business-savvy so I don’t see myself wanting to partner with them either. I want to move to a larger firm.
