I attended my first virtual job fair. Even after keeping my expectations low, I needed to go much, much lower. I tailored my resume, created a bio and added a photo, logged in 30 minutes early. Dressed up. Stopped in at one booth with a possible position. Sent a chat message and waited for 15 minutes. Then got a reply, if interested, to apply at company website. End of chat. No live interview. Resigned, prepared cover letter, went to website, entered resume info 2x. Worst experience ever.

Any advice on a first year trying to transition from family law to in-house? I always thought family law was my path, and used to enjoy it, but it’s not the direction I want to head in anymore. I don’t think I even want to continue with any litigation work. I’m having a hard time finding firms that are hiring entry level associate positions that don’t require at least 3+ years experience in-house. Should I start at a business law firm to get experience working with corporations first?

How does contract to hire work? If I’m offered $37/hr on w2 for 3 months and then possibly a permanent position, how much can I expect to get annually as a full time company employee as a BI data analyst II? I have a M.S. and certificates in DA but this will be my first job as DA.
I prefer working for what is offered on contract without negotiating, and then negotiate when I transition into the company itself so I have a better chance of getting the contract position and show my skills.
