Hi Fishies,
Looking for any reviews/suggestions regarding Pubmatic. Most important is the tech stack and learning aspects.
Big data technologies(Scala-Spark etc) and Java.
Also in discussion with Impetus and Autodesk (via third party i.e. Applicantz).
CTC is not a concern right now as what they are offering is enough for me right now.
Any suggestions would be helpful

I’m sorry you’re going through this! I’m in Los Angeles and its the same! Now a days no one can live in a single paycheck! And no one should be pushed in to a relationship for sake of splitting bills. I know i can’t just be with anyone. But if you move to a smaller city, then the paycheck becomes half! Unfortunately thats the case in the world now! Inflation makes everything expensive but no one wants to raise the paychecks!

I feel the same way, having moved into London after Covid, and my household income is £180k. It’s insane. After paying £80k in taxes and insurance, 40k in rent / bills for a two bed flat (yes the rental market has been crazy for the last two years… missed the boat on low interest rates and buying), and 30k in nurseries, I’m left with 30k to live on for the whole year and zero savings. The UK tax system highly penalizes wage earners vs people with capital / on welfare. And it’s not like it has good public education / healthcare like some other European countries.
I know friends who are considering moving to Dubai or Singapore for this reason. Or even the US if they can wrangle a relatively high paying job in a relatively MCOL area.
Same! I am in professional services in my 30s, and have to flatshare, it is crazy. My career was going pretty well initially but it kind of stalled now.
1. Earning more is a solution
2. There are nurseries which aren't £4k a month
3. Life does get easier with a partner so make it a project if you want one
I do think there’s lots of systematic issues in London with the housing market. Have you considered moving further out of London to seek less expensive accommodation, what about flat sharing for X amount of time to allow yourself some options to save up?
I am in the exact same boat so I feel for you. It’s terrible!!!
Definitely not crazy, it's pretty common. Always good to know you are not alone :)
How far out are you willing to move? I'm out in nearby Suffolk, and it's 1 - 1.5 hour ride by train to London, and rent out here is much more decent.
I think if I have to move away I’ll go outside
I’d rethink it. The rent situation here is out of hand.
I was planning to move to London with a 60k salary and about half of that in savings 😅 Should I re-think it? I don't want to share apartment anymore or live in horrible conditions😵💫
No, don’t.
Where in London do you live? You refer to an Islington nursery. Islington is extremely pricey. Would you consider moving further out (e.g., along the Thameslink line heading north, Finchley, Twickenham)? Where would you like to live?
Have you considered living in Zone 3/4 South East London? There are some really safe areas within 30min commute to Cannon Street at reasonable prices ( for e.g £700 pcm for a room in a shared house).
