I would only go to law school if you can get a full ride or only incur minimal debt at favorable rates, bc your post-graduation comp will make it extremely difficult to pay off.

Your social work background would be a great fit for public interest law, like advocacy, empathy, and client work are at the heart of both fields.
Law school is demanding and public interest practice can be incredibly meaningful. I think the main downside is total compensation, which is often lower than in private practice, so that’s an important factor to consider.
