I didn't get a permanent offer after my 2L summer at a large firm, and it feels like a scarlet letter on my resume. It wasn't for performance issues, the group just didn't have the headcount, but I know every recruiter is going to ask why I’m not going back. I’m currently a 3L trying to find a job for after graduation, and the no-offer question haunts every interview. What is the most professional way to explain this situation without looking like a problem candidate?

lol you don’t say you have a no offer. You instead say that, while you have an offer to go back, you are looking for a different firm because the practice you would be slotted into doesn’t align with your goals.

I mean the poster is asking about the situation when they are, and have been, explicitly asked whether or not they have an offer to return.

Why isn’t just telling the truth an option? Explain that they took you on as an intern but ended up not having the capacity for a FT employee

The difference however is that they Do have their job. And the poster is out of one.

Anyone else having trouble focusing today? Every time I have a long break and come back to the office I’m reminded how much I don’t like my current job. ID Associate and I have such a hard time concentrating even after a week off. I find it mind-numbing and unfulfilling. I’m never excited to come to work anymore for the past few months now. Just found out from a legal recruiter that I’m also way underpaid here. Hopeful I’ll get a job in a diff area of law or find another calling altogether.

What can you do if you’re getting interviewed by the same person who didn’t choose you in the first place?
Context: I applied for a position a while back and got interviewed, but didn’t go to the next round. I found the same position open again a month later at a different location and applied. Almost immediately, I was called for an interview, but with the same interviewer. What does this mean? Is this going to get awkward?

Is the CPA designation worth it? For me it would take me 1 year of PREP courses and 2 years of PEP until i can write the CFE. And I am 27 years old right now. Also wondering if it would be crazy to pursue the CPA while learning how to code to be a developer as well?

I’ve been practicing in traditional labor for about two years now (although about a decade of labor relations experience) but I’m trying to break into employee benefits law. My long term goal is to have benefits be my main area of practice.

I am trying to practice a version of intuitive/mindful eating - honoring my body’s hunger cues and not sticking to a timeline or plan as to what and when to eat. But tbh years of “dieting” has screwed over my ability to recognize hunger cues. I suddenly realize my hunger after not eating for 10+ hours and then I’m ravenous and would just eat anything. Anyone dealt with this have any recommendations? TIA

Curious if anyone else is or has been in the same boat. I started as an assistant at an entertainment law firm prior to passing the bar. Upon passing, the partner told me they would hire an assistant for me since I now became an associate. That was 1.5 years ago and I am still in the limbo of juggling my own workload + doing assistant roles for my supervisors. I have also had no increase in pay, which is a huge deal for me. Is this normal in the entertainment world? Any suggestions?
