Plain and simple WFH is the best

Amen!!!!!
Flexible WFH - absolutely!
Mandatory WFH - terrible
Mandatory On-Site - pretty bad
Really glad to hear that you've benefitted from the WFH, and everyone's situation is different - some people will want to be in the office 4-5 days a week after this, some 2-3, some almost never. Flexibility reduces emissions and traffic congestion and it's better for the humans, and hopefully it becomes normal after this ends!
Totally agree! Think in office should still be an option. Honestly if I could afford to live right by my office and therefore commute was not an issue I would prefer being in the office at least 50% of the time.

If the commute is killing you then live closer to the office. Benefits WLB and lessens environmental impact.

It’s the cluelessness for me 😂

I’m with you OP. Good thing is I think MANY companies will be adopting a hybrid plan going forward, and we won’t have to commute as much

I do not miss my one hour each way commute every day.

OP, I’m right along with you. I live in NJ but work in NYC —- even when everything goes perfect - commute is pure trash.
We are supposed to be going back to the office in 2022 and most likely hybrid. The the number of WFH days is a major concern - time and money - two things you can never get back

OMG you just reminded me of having to be a clock jockey . Literally at 4 PM every day I was constantly looking at the time fearful that if I missed my window - the evening was screwed ( subway and bus) . I don’t want to go back to that nonsense

I’m not planning to be in office more than 1 day per week, regardless of the decisions made around wfh. I’m willing to escalate if necessary but my manager isn’t even in the same office and doesn’t care.
Same here. And now that both my sons have jobs - if I don’t stay up until 10 pm, I wouldn’t see them for a few days. 😞
It would seem that a tech company like amazon would embrace the wfh model

They are probably trying to get a sense of what other large companies are doing before they definitely state their game plan
Completely agree!
I switched firms during the pandemic and I dont have my drivers license yet, so I'm just hoping there's a bit more time between me and any mandatory client site visits.
I'm with you on the traffic.
But also, I'm really dreading having to put real pants on.
A few years ago I ended up having to take a major step back on my career due to my 4 hour round trip commute and my husband’s travel schedule as I couldn’t make it to daycare before they closed (at 7PM!) because my company had zero flexibility.
I’m really hoping companies embrace WFH so I can have a larger geographical area to look for a new job and get my career back on track. Even if I could do hybrid it would help.
I live on the Newcastle/Renton border. Just moved here from deeper Renton so not sure the commute yet but old commute was an hour in the morning on average and a little more than that in evening. Unless you do a 7 to 3 schedule then you can beat a lot of traffic. But I hear the 90 is better than 405 at least.
OP may I ask you where you live? I am moving to Issaquah soon and once the office opens I have to go into DT Seattle. Wondering how bad the commute is going to be.
