Just because you don’t have to physically go into an office doesn’t mean you have to work if you’re ill. Being sick, especially with this virus, is absolutely 100% valid reason not to work.
Don’t put your health at risk for a job.
I hope you get well soon!
I hear you. I’ve been in your boat in my past life in consulting. Used to feel guilty about taking any sick day, felt like I was letting my team down. The worst was when I was literally in the ER, trying to respond to my partner and apologizing to him for being away from work. Half an hour later I was being wheeled in for emergency surgery to remove my appendix.
Honestly speaking, it really doesn’t matter if you miss work for a week or two or three. Take care of your and your family’s health. That’s what most important in life.

So let them know you have covid and based on how you feel that you’re likely not going to be on your A game and just take it day by day based on how you feel...kinda ironic that your parents got you sick and not the other way around
that’s what I thought too, but my grimy brother in law gave it to them first :/

Definitely let your firm know and take time to recover. Not worth adding stress on top of an illness that could be very serious. Health is wealth
It’s not like I have to go in for work. So it feels like I have no excuse to not work. Also fucked up I feel this way lol, I should be able to take off work for being sick
Think of yourself first! Your health, including your mental health, will be with you till the end. Big4 come and go :) In 10 years it will not matter for your career if you worked this one time, but may matter for your health.
One symptom of Covid is extreme exhaustion (physical and mental): Lethargy and “foggy brain”. You may want to work but if you aren’t feeling well, you will likely make mistakes.
Plus one or both of your parents may experience symptoms and need your assistance over the next 10-14 days.
Hope your symptoms are minimal and recovery quick.
The federal gov mandates two weeks additional
sick for covid. Let them know you’ll be on off and on. The whole world is shut down For a reason.
Nope. Thanks OBiden
You’ll heal faster with rest. Your health is more important than work. It’s a tough lesson to learn when you learn it the hard way. Take the time off and rest. You have the the most valid excuse of the year.
Definitely take the time off. One of my colleagues had it and came back today. Poor guy couldn’t finish a single sentence without coughing or losing his breath. We all felt so bad.
What a world we live in. You have covid, take the time. Rest and recover.
Not at KPMG anymore but they had COVID days!!! If they’re still in effect, this is exactly the situation to use them for
Had the same thing happen to me in October. I ended up not telling anyone and just working through it, but my symptoms were mild. I know my team wouldn’t have been mad at me, but I was in the same boat as you of just not wanting other people to have to work harder in a busy time. It’s totally your call, but since you already felt exhausted, there’s a fair chance that the worst is behind you and you’ll be much better by Monday. Really sorry you’re dealing with this. Good luck!
Don’t try to push yourself like you normally would during a busy week. If you do have it and are tried, you have to rest. It took me weeks to overcome the exhaustion from covid even though I had a mild case and my managers were very accommodating. I still got my work done most days (only taking a day off), but I was taking a lot more rests throughout the day.
There is no telling what this virus will do to each person, so make sure you get the rest you need to fight it.
If you can work you should work. If you can’t you can’t. Don’t overthink it.
One of my healthiest friends (35, works out 6x week, runs a marathon a year) didn’t work for 9 days with COVID.
thanks guys, really. I’ve been super stressed the past day, not even cause of the work I have to do, but because of the future stress I would have if I have to take sick days and push the work onto my team. Like to the point of crying. So fucked that I feel this way but I will try and take some rest if I do have it
