I failed a technical test because I used a slightly different formula for WACC than the firm's specific internal template. My math was right, my logic was sound, but because I didn't do it their way, they treated me like I’d never seen a spreadsheet before. Are they just checking for total compliance to their specific brand of correct? Are we hiring analysts or are we hiring parrots?

I'm going to accept an offer that's 150k+🎉 I'm a single filer, no kids. I'll be able to max out: 401k, HSA, but from my understanding, I will not qualify to utilize IRA? Aside from building a 6-month emergency fund (HYSA), what are potential next investment vehicles? I do know I want to start purchasing real estate for cash flow. Need career advice. Trying to break into a finance role, preferably an Analsyt role but I have no transferable experience. I worked as a mortgage loan officer (which is sales) for 2 years after college, but since mortgage is such a niche industry, no hard skills transfer and have no relevant undergrad internships unfortunately.
