I definitely don't think you are alone in that. It seems like the people who do the most are usually the ones who are appreciated the least. I would just encourage you to set really good boundaries with your job and only do the amount you are paid for. If you start going above and beyond and you absolutely NEED the appreciation in order to feel okay with how hard you're working, maybe scale it back.
As of lately I’ve been doing that and some people probably noticed because their reactions have been a little different
I think that's a pretty common situation. I often feel like I've gone above and beyond, and it really doesn't make a difference. No one seems to notice and there's certainly no difference in my compensation. I'm more or less content in the job, but at times it can feel frustrating.
Yea I refuse to feel frustrated anymore. I care but I refuse to care more than the people who gets paid more than me
You are not alone at all. Count me in. I always go above and beyond and nobody appreciates my efforts. It is a story of a lot of people these days.
That’s so unfortunate! Which we as good workers get fed up too. I hope it gets better for us
I believe that we all feel this way. We are over worked and under paid for the work that we do in our industry. Now that the economy is not in the best shape.. a lot of these companies are barely giving raises.
Oh no, your feelings are absolutely valid. That’s probably why you’re not getting a lot of verbal recognition. If your manager recognizes that you go in the extra mile then he knows he has to pay you more and he probably doesn’t want to do that.
you’re definitely not the only one who feels like that, however, I feel like in retail hard work and effort are just rewarded with more work. Do your job well and with integrity. Hopefully, one day or at some point you’ll be offered a bonus or some form of compensation worthwhile.
