Yeah, we’re at a discount. But it’s like comparing apples to oranges. You have to take into account the overall experience of living there, working hours, cost of education, cost of healthcare, benefits like parental leaves, etc. I worked in the US on a couple of projects and hated my experience compared to my team here but of course, just anecdotal
What did you hate specifically ?
As a point of reference I used to be a tech advisory manager at one of the big 4 / ACN in NYC with 8 years of experience and made the equivalent of $285k CDN last year. I have friends that are strategy managers at KPMG making $360k CDN. So not even at senior manager or on the strategy side not even engagement manger / project leader level yet.

@F1 - G1's hub is gone with their Smart city/Side Walk Lab project. We might have more head count in their sales org, but very few product or ops roles.
Everyone in the US makes more than us
Yep. Nominally, and then exacerbated by exchange rate. From what I’ve seen WLB can be worse in the US (consulting) but if you’re already doing McK hours that may not apply to you

Yeah, can you imagine paying $20k per year (sometimes more) for each year of undergrad? That’s how much my entire degree cost here at more or less the same quality of education
Right. Fair.
Pretty much everyone makes less than the US, when it comes to white collar jobs (except maybe Switzerland, Liechtenstein etc.).
But agree with D2 that money is just one factor and you have to factor in all the other externalities of all living there.

That's the cost of restricting ourselves to the Canadian Economy, which comes with benefits like WLF, Quality of life, etc. etc.
UK also gets shafted for compensation as compared to US conversion for same role. 😤
Yep compared to my friends in the US we get paid a fair bit less but work life balance is much better. I guess it’s how much you value your time and health. For some, especially young, more money makes more difference. As you age, it matters less and less (relatively)
PwC2 you just need to manage your partners, set expectations and avoid being the yes person. In all honesty, engagement teams in the states (based off my pals) work more hours. The only comparable group in PwC Canada is Deals at certain times in terms of working hours.

We're at a 40% discount. Jumped ship to a US firm and tripped my salary.

Yeah
Can anyone comment on tier 2/3 cities? Curious of opportunities outside of the big hugs given the large cost of living

Ottawa should have lot of public sector work.
