Not unusual to not have to work your notice period but you should be getting paid.
I also don’t see why you wouldn’t tell your attorney. I’ve always had these convos directly
I agree. I have always told the person I work directly with/for, before giving my notice to management.
When I gave notice to HR, I always told my attorneys myself. And I never had any problems from it.
Congrats on the new job. As a courtesy, I always talk to my attorneys first. After, I hand in my notice with a resignation letter to HR.
I've had something similar happen, where I gave notice, and the next thing I knew, I was out the door sooner than expected. It’s always a bit surprising, but I guess it's their way of handling things. Glad you’ve got another job lined up though.
I’ve heard of this happening and may have witnessed it once or twice. Hasn’t happened to me, however, I am of the opinion that HR and attorneys sometimes take it way too personally, inside of asking the why, where, what, who and when to see if they can make you stay. Sounds to me like you are leaving a toxic environment. Good luck at new firm.
