There is no way this ends well for you. Best case, you are unemployed. Worst case, you work for Deloitte.
Got too many bills for it to be the best case😂
The background check process for Deloitte took a long time. I lived in Chicago and Cook County took so long that I was able to start here before it was finalized, contingent on a clean result. It was stressful and nerve-wracking, especially since I had already quit my previous job, but everything turned out fine.

Why do you think so?
Generally you should only quit after background check clears
Yea I made the mistake of leaving before it clears. hoping everything clears up
What will the background check find? Nothing - you’re fine…

If you have no background issues you’ll be fine- enjoy the time between jobs!
Update… it got cleared and I’m ready to start! Thanks for the input!
Congrats! 🎉

That’s a rookie mistake. I always advise people to never leave their notice or quit before the background check is completely complete. What you are going through has happened time and time again and unfortunately sometimes the new company pull the offer either cause of the BI result or something else and the person is left without a job for a long time and you have no recourse.
Why would you quit before the background clears???
I know I shouldn’t have, never thought about it.
Are you saying they completed the background investigation and are reviewing the findings or they completed the investigation and reviewed it and now it’s been flagged and is under review? If it’s the first it’s fine as that is protocol. If it’s the second, then you need to start looking at new opportunities. It also depends on what your purview is. If you are govt sector consultant it’s one thing if you are financial it’s another and if you’re private corporate it’s another. So a lot of variables you have to answer for yourself. If you’re govt or financial and your review was flagged after it was completed, you will have to explain a serious red flag or start looking because they probably won’t move you forward because of optics. This could be as simple as a DUI or DWi conviction or something like a big blemish on your credit report. Or something like they think you’ve lied about something like over embellished a job role or title you may have had. I knew a guy who was offered a role in a Deloitte like consultancy for govt sector. He lost the job because he had a DUI conviction from a decade earlier on his record. If you have DuI convictions you aren’t allowed to drive on govt installations specifically military bases. So poof $200k job gone. Like I said could be major or minor but a flagged background check is something to be very worried about.
Great news it got cleared!
