I got an offer for one of the Big 4 (moving from another Big 4 itself). They showed they were incredibly eager to have me on their team and very impressed by me. The offer they ended up giving me though was lower than my current salary and they did not budge on negotiation. Is this normal?

I had 21 as fixed and 3 variable. Good salary for my experience. But then came covid and now I'm at 48 fixed salary.
Thanks to covid I was able to achieve this salary at just 7 yoe. When I joined the industry my manager at 10+ experience was earning 10-12 lakhs.

I'm currently in a process for senior associate at a Big4. The process began on July, yet between the first and second interview it took like 3-4 weeks. And between the 2nd and 3rd like 7 weeks. I sent an email to HR during those weeks asking for an update and didn't have an answer. Then it a 3rd one was scheduled three times (the manager didn't connect to the first 2) and next week I have the last interview with 1 partner. Is the timing normal? Or were they looking for other candidates or what?
