I got laid off this year while being told great performance results and how I can be on track for promotion next year. I was in shock for a long time to recover from the financial and mental anguish that followed after learning of the layoff news. Finally started a short term remote contract gig but I am not going to stop applying until I have at least a J2. Does anyone have any advice on how to manage getting and keeping J2? What was your journey to becoming OE?

Sending positivity your way! My journey into OE was accidental. I picked up a 12 week contract during COVID doing basic administrative stuff, as J1 wasn't super busy. From there, J2 actually called and requested me back a few months later, this time for a 1 year engagement. It's now been almost two years and they have continuously extended my contract. It's been great money with low responsibility and very flexible hours. Keep your calendar updated, look out for OE-friendly roles/companies, and don't let lifestyle creep happen. You'll be fine.

I've become really jaded about consulting. I find all so often you need to tell the client what they want to hear to keep their business and I feel like so much of the what I recommend doesn't actually get implemented. I'm looking to make a career switch so I can both create and execute on my strategies. A product management path seems very promising for this.

Does anyone who switched from consulting to product management have any recommendations of h helpful PM books, courses, or programs?

2. What is the general hike I can expect ? And when it is reflected ?
3. When will be the variable pay will be paid out ?

Can anyone here help me with this performance cycle part ? I am really confused.

I would like to hear from any UX Program Managers who are willing to share their experience.

How difficult is it to juggle a remote role with a hybrid role?

My current role is hybrid with at least two days a week in office. However, with the potential economic downturn, I'm considering holding on to the role to supplement my income.

I'm new to the overemployed movement, so I'm evaluating the feasibility of holding onto the hybrid role and the remote position.
