This gives me so much hope because I’m having a second c section in a few months! Thanks for sharing and wishing you a smooth recovery (congrats on the babe!!)
I had a repeat c-section and it was night and day different from my traumatic first emergency c-section. The worst part was truly remembering to baby my body and not pick up my toddler until medically cleared. The pain was manageable and I healed fine. I’m not almost 4 months postpartum and feel pretty normal.
Yes the not being able to pick up the toddler is heartbreaking at times 💔
Was your first one an emergency c section? Mine was and the recovery sucked. I suffered for almost a year. My second which was a planned one was 1000x better, like what took me 6 months first time to feel “ just okay” , the same feeling came after a week on my second. Currently 2 months pp. fatigue hits on and off but otherwise zero pain.
Mine were both scheduled c- sections due to breech babies.
I had a planned c-section with my one and only child and it was the best possible birth experience and recovery. I think the difference between emergency and planned is that with a planned c-section your body doesn’t have to heal from the time you spent laboring. You’re only healing one location.
Also, I’ve been recommending a QL block to anyone and everyone even considering a c-section. It made my recovery a total breeze. I was back on my feet faster than any friend who had a vaginal birth.
