Move out of personal lines. CL is where the money is. I left PL less than 5 years ago and my pay has tripled.
It may mean making a lateral move, or even accepting a lower position, but it’s the best thing you can do in the long run.
COMMERCIAL. Wish I had made the move sooner tbh. Agency side needs account mangers in a big way and starting is $100k+ from what I hear. Climbing up won't be hard if you're good at it. Some make well over, $130k-$150k. Our agnecy partners are always asking for talent. Carriers are looking for uwers all the time as well. The old crew is retiring and new peeps are desperately needed. Wont start as high on the carrier side, but the jobs much easier: dont work with the public - only agents, only need to know your product vs account managers who need to have a pretty big grasp on whats out there, and you can climb up to a very comfortable salary in 5 years no problem. Having your CPCU under your belt is a huge plus! Jump on LinkedIn and start networking, it will be easier than you realize and you'll be kicking yourself for waiting as long as you did. Also do it now, before AI takes over everything lol.
I agree about CL. it’s what i’m trying to move into because i’ve seen the fee schedules and salaries. It’s been rough to get into though bc of the CL experience that’s being asked.
You may have to take a “lesser” role to make the switch (I went from PL UW to CL UW Assistant and quickly grew from there). It’s usually an easier jump if you can manage to move laterally within the same company
I was thinking that. Personal does seem very limited.
