I have a request for interim relief pending before the court filed last Tuesday. It usually takes 1-3 Business days for a disposition. It’s now going on the 5th business day. I want to reach out to the court to follow up but don’t know how to phrase it. We need it decided like today. Any suggestions? It’s also an appellate court so I’d just be contacting the clerks office now the judge/chambers itself.

Pick up the phone, put a smile in your voice, and very politely ask the court what the status is. Take it from there.

This job is a lot better if you don't care about the bonus and hours requirement. I can pretty easily bill 1700 hours annually and my firm so far hasn't cared in the slightest. Worrying about hitting 2000 hours for the bonus used stress me out so much, and I just don't think it's worth it. Base salaries are ridiculous and way more than enough to finance my lifestyle.

So, you’ve reached the stage of your career where you care more about cashing a fat paycheck than making “creative ads”. How do you make the absolute most money as a copywriter while still working a 9-5? Asking for... a... friend?

Does anyone know how litigation finance works on the plaintiff side? If someone wanted to bring a lawsuit against their former employer would a general contingency arrangement with a plaintiff’s firm make sense? I have a somewhat unsteady, gappy work history due to several health issues — serious ones — that have gotten in the way since I passed the bar. My first major health issue I can easily explain as it’s physical, a major concussion. My other health issues are severe depression that affected my ability to work steadily. I am better finally, and ready to get back to work, but I don’t know how to explain this or even approach this during interviews/resume writing.

Anyone have any helpful advice?
