I have an interview next week for a Business Analyst position. If the hiring manager asks about my salary expectations, what would be the most suitable answer to give? Should I mention a higher salary compared to my current salary? I would like some advice on this. I currently have 2 years of experience as a Business Analyst.

You should say something like this: "A pretty good salary. I plan to prove that to you, but right now I'll be happy to accept whatever company policy is for this position."

I agree with Associate I. Know the range that you're working with. I found out from HR, after the interviews, were complete, that the job paid $20/hr which was a 55% downward departure from my previous salary. Knowledge is power.

Do some research and figure out what is a reasonable salary for the company and the position. It’s better to aim a bit higher, but it still needs to be based on reality.

like

Try to find out all you can about what the company pays. And ask the interviewer what the salary range is for the position. It's always better to have them give a number first, and most legitimate companies will have no objection to doing that. Once they tell you the salary range you can estimate how someone with your experience would fall within the range. The upper end if usually unattainable, that would be for someone with extensive experience or someone who has some skill they need right away.

like

No matter the position interviewing for say, “I’d first like to understand the requirements of the job to better gauge the mission.” Any hiring manager will respect that. Because remember, the first one to flinch loses. Besides make them state the salary. If they don’t at some point you honestly don’t want to work there. Who wants to be lowballed?

like

Look up the company, and similar roles elsewhere, on Glassdoor and Levels.fyi. Usually it's a recruiter who handles the numbers questions. Put it off until you hear about the role if you can, otherwise give a range that starts in the middle of what your research showed and goes to the top.

If an employee mentions something disparaging or accusatory about their manager during an exit interview, how would you handle? What happens if what the employee said is slanderous and a “he said/she said” situation? If you opt to share the feedback with the manager, would the manager have a legal case against the company or former employee?

It's pretty weird to see how terrified people in the US get about the "threat to society" that socialism poses while ignoring the fascism that is *already here*.

I know you don't want another USSR, neither do I. I also don't want another Nazi Germany, so stop voting fascists into our government. The closest we have to socialists in Congress are people like Bernie, who's not starting a revolution. Meanwhile almost all of the R's in the Senate are against a bill that would prevent another coup.

I'm a US citizen living abroad I applied almost 11 months ago for my spouse. Married for years, kid. I wait and wait. It seems this will take 2 years, maybe more. I feel trapped. On one side the US system demands I work and domicile in US, the other side says families should be prioritized to stay together. My spouse has had enough of the process. I feel trapped abroad and locked in a dysfunctional system. We're just in limbo, it's depressing

How do people in the IA profession motivate themselves? Personally, I love the fact that we are exposed to different business processes (rather than a specific number or subject matter), also I actually like the fact we are a bit more creative than the typical “in our less than humble opinion we think this number is not too incorrect” approach adopted by our external counterparts.

I was approached on LinkedIn for an early career recruiting role in DFW, TX. I don't have direct experience, but I have the university experience/connections from working in career services. This is the first time I've considered work outside of higher education. I said my salary expectations are minimum $90k and that didn't seem to be an issue. Am I asking too little, too much? How can I know I'm getting the best salary and not just settling at the low end of the range?

My husband just received a job offer on an opportunity he is really excited about. It would be great for his career and they are giving the 15% jump in base he asked for, however they won’t share what the target bonus amount would be. It’s an executive director position, so I would assume it’s a decent target bonus, but without that in writing it could honestly be a gift basket at the end of the year. Is it a red flag for them to not share this? His total comp could be less at this new job…
