Booz Allen Hamilton rescinded my offer because my current firm will not waive the non-compete clause in our employee agreement. It was allegedly a capability hire, and not tied to a particular project.
I work one level above entry level, and really shouldn’t even have such a restrictive non-compete.
I’ve already resigned, and would prefer to be unemployed rather than continue working here.

I don’t fight with idiots. When they need to use insurance, it won’t be such a scam.
My father was exactly like this also. I have worked in the insurance industry for more than 3 decades and he never missed a chance to talk about how much of a scam it is. And how much the sales guys are nothing but professional butt kissers. Because of this I never brought him to my work during his retirement years to introduce him to my coworkers. For what it's worth he was a government employee his entire life literally every job he ever had. He never once had to worry about meeting goals or winning an account or anything like that. He had a job and a guaranteed raise each year no matter what.
Ironic he was a government employee, who I generally view as people who can hide out in the bureaucracy and who wouldn't be able to hack it in the private sector. My regard for government employees is below corporate HR, and that is saying something - lol

What I do for a living is to protect the innocent when someone dies prematurely. I provide worry free retirement that people won’t outlive. I protect their assets when they get sick. I provide a legacy when they die. I live and work a life of significance.
You’re a manager and don’t know how to respond? You might need to rethink your position
I tell people who say things like that I'm very hurt by their comments, and I'm going home to cry myself to sleep on my thick mattress of money. Seriously, I just shrug it off. Sometimes people are just looking for drama. And, in fairness, a lot of people have had a bad experience with the insurance industry and they feel like they need to blow off steam.
If your insurance company actively tries to do everything they can to not pay out a claim it may be a scam.
Exactly. That's why I work for an HMO. No claims, no prior authorization, no scam.
That is someone who never had a catastrophic event while self-pay. You can’t really respond to ignorance. It’s a live and learn thing.
Remind these folks about all of the new roofs insurance companies paid for
Tell him since he feels that way you will change your beneficiary from him to someone else
I do, in the past waaaaaaaaaay back when I first started I would just say well you know you do not need it if you can prove that you can pay for damages if they happen and keep the money in the reserve or in that case they should never need a loan of any sort and pay for everything out of pocket. Most people who state that have zero idea how it works, why it's necessary, and how their lives full of on demand satisfaction and convince make it necessary. So just tell him you think him believing his opinion on what you do really matters is just plain a waste of life
That is exactly my point. Most people do not have the money to cover their deductibles let alone a catastrophic loss. Although it seems like a waste... most claims pay out more than the insured person pays the company (I can only speak for my side of the business). Most people have zero idea of the cost of mitigation repairs permit etc etc etc. Half of the dispute the value of the home to rebuild it and then get upset when its insured below value.
I just tell them that there are people who think that way until they have a claim. Insurance is basically people pooling their money together to pay claims when they do happen. Most people can’t come up with thousands or hundreds of thousands of dollars when they have a loss. If they think it’s a scam and would rather go without insurance, if it’s an option, go for it and be prepared to pay a lot of money if something does happen.
I break it down this way..You pay say $1200 for your 6 month premium right? during that time you get in an accident and the damage to your car comes out to $5,000, damage to the other person's vehicle because it was your fault comes out to $10,000, any other damage-like to guardrails, etc come out to another couple thousand. Would you rather have paid the $1200 or the $15,000 + out of pocket? Further, what if you were sued? $1200 or losing your house? People then say, " I want that money back, I didn't have a loss in those 6 months" Nope, not happening, that money goes into a pool with other people's premiums so that that $15000+ can be paid if needed.
When people say that to me i agree with them and then ask do you have health insurance you pay all that money and don't use it you wasted your money but if you use it one time it usually is more then you paid in that year. Most agree after that and move on.
It only feels like a scam right up until you need to use it.
He's right
People will call insurance a scam and then go gamble.
People don’t understand what insurance is. They think you’re supposed to make more than you pay in premiums.
Of course, when they pay $900 a year and cause a $80,000 claim they are shocked that their premium rises to $1,200.
Most often the people who think all insurance is a giant scam are folks who likely tried to scam insurance and got busted or simply failed in my experience. Lot of upset clients who think because they pay 7k/yr In insurance they should be able to get a 50K roof installed for a 1k deductible.
