Not at all. I am a very strong technical writer and my director and partner both come to me for proof reading. They are still leaders that I like and respect.
I’d much rather my team find a mistake in my work than my boss find it ((shrug))
I love when my manager asks me to. It makes me feel more respected/trusted and I love helping her out any way I can
I do it all the time.
Unbecoming in what way?
I think I just started overthinking it. I'm not sure I even know lol
Not at all, I do this all the time.
I ask colleagues in management to proof read major deliverables all the time. I fend it very helpful as an MD to have someone do a cold read.
No, and they're learning valuable insights about communications at the next level (style, tone, etc.)
No
I have trouble proofreading my own work
No I love this type of support- I wish we did it more often on my team (I’m a terrible speller and typist)
Professional, part of team work
Thank you for all the feedback!! I think I got caught up in my own head for a moment there as this is common practice for me and it wasn't until yesterday that I started doubting it.
Not at all. I ask people to prof read my stuff because something that may make sense to me, may not make sense to someone else. Having someone proof read is a good way to make sure that the message is clear and worded correctly so that everyone is on the same page. We are human, and as humans, we can make mistakes. Proof reading is just avoiding the risk of making those mistakes.
Can you use grammarly?
It’s not unprofessional to ask an employee to proof read your work or ask your manager to do so. I do it on highly sensitive items or confusing subjects.
I would think it be odd if you insist on proofreading all others’ work all the time.
