I hope everyone had a fun thanksgiving! I definitely needed some downtime. Of course I still got like 6 work emails.

Anyone else have coworkers always seeming to be working?

Even the policy says issues that come up during a holiday are worked through in detail (documentation wise) on the next business day

Deviations etc essentially have their countdowns put on hold during holiday

But without fail there are always people going in and on about them

I hope you did as well! I watched way too much football and ate way too much food. In short, it was a perfect Thanksgiving. And yes, definitely. There are a few like that here. I almost feel like they send those emails just to make sure everyone knows how much effort they're putting in. I've never gotten an email on a holiday or at 2 AM that couldn't have waited until 9 AM the next business day.

My Thanksgiving ended up pretty great other than accidentally taking a medicine with alcohol that you shouldn’t take with alcohol 😂

Nothing too bad just felt like I had taken a sleeping pill

I'm very grateful that my coworkers do not do that, lol. My boss is really big on people actually taking their time off and not working when they should be relaxing.

My coworkers are pretty good when it comes to not working on holidays. That’s actually the one time I hear the least from them .

I started working for a bank and am going through the background check. They found an arrest which was dismissed and the file was sealed a few days after the check. They’re requesting the police report on top of the court order to seal. The police report is BAD. During the arrest (DUI) they wrote the report to make me seem like a complete lunatic. Embellished on several elements of the case. I am worried that giving them this report will cause me to be let go.

What copy have you found gets the best ppen/reply rate?

What is one of the most frustrating parts of being a scientist or researcher?

I'll tell you what it is: referencing!

You have to do so much of it, and it's so annoying. You have to cite your sources, but there are so many different formats for citations! And then sometimes you don't even know how to cite something, and how are you supposed to know that unless you ask someone who knows? And even then, they might not be sure whether it should be an in-text citation or a footnote…
