I hope so. It’s so hard to take care of students’ needs when depression makes it hard to take care of your own needs. Best wishes to you.💜
I’m sure if you work with your doctor you can make it be.
I had a really hard time three years ago. My trauma was resurfacing and was having panic attacks left and right. My depression was out of control. My district worked with me and my doctor to basically form an accommodation plan for me so I wouldn’t get in trouble due to absences. Be transparent with admin about what’s going on and see how they can help. It is easy to be feeling like this. 💛
Yes, it is and could be the basis for a medical leave, FMLA, or accommodations. HR dept should provide you with your organization's policies.
I have taken 2 stress leaves. The key is that you have taken proactive steps. See a counselor for several sessions, then a psychiatrist. Generally, in our insurance case (privately purchased disability insurance,) you have to show a pattern that you have proactively tried to solve. If you can manage it, and can get help, I highly recommend it. With me, it just dawned on me, "I am done." It was clear as a bell. My counselor has many teacher patients, so that is helpful as well.
