I used to collect makeup and play with it like a form of art. Was getting pretty good at it. But got sick of spending 30+ mins on my makeup. Now I use:
Revlon colorstay concealer
Naked mini palette for eyebrows and eyeliner
Marc Jacobs Omega Lash mascara
That's it.
I'll go all out and do full face if an event calls for it. But honestly less is more is what i've found (i'm 33 btw)
You chicks impress me so much. I missed the boat on makeup in my teen years, and now I wouldn't even know where to start 😅 I religiously do my eyebrows with L'Oréal eyebrow liner, and I sport mascara, but that about maxes me out on makeup knowledge. (And tbh I don't think I do my eyebrows right)
Us chics would probably have a blast doing a makeup 💄 session paired with🍷 and 🧀
*Naked mini palette is Urban Decay
*Never wear non non-comedogenic foundation. 😂
I do my make up like art too. Every day for 30 min hahahah. List in order :)
- Neutrogina oil free Primer
- Maybelline Velvet foundation (LOVE this)(used with a Tarte foundation brush)
- Mac or Sephora foundation powder for hold and matte.
- Maybelline warm pallete for eyeshadow is my go to. But Kiko (not too expensive) also has great shades, texture, and quality.
- NYX black jumbo liner
- Sephora black liquid liner to define the cat eye
- Physicians Formula shimmer bronze for a super subtle contour
- Urban Decay setting spray
- NYX translucent powder
- I have 30+ lipsticks and shades but I'm liking Tony Moly (Korean brand) lip stain a lot (works great)
It's not a drugstore brand, but I cannot recommend Beauty Bakerie lipsticks enough. They're matte, they come in awesome colors, they don't dry your lips out like normal matte lipsticks, and they stay for days! No lipstick on your coffee mug, no touching up everyone you eat something. It's amazing!! And it's WOC owned, which is awesome!
Boots is the best, most organic/least chemical drugstore Brand as far as I know.
God, this all seems overwhelming. I do eyebrow powder and some foundation. Admittedly though, I just end up looking like a greasy troll by lunch. I need girlfriends. And money.
B.B. cream from the drugstore and studio fix from MAC (lasts forever) eyeliner under your bottom lashes but only to the middle of the eye and add a long lasting lip.
Target ($)
+ NYX Fat Pen Eyeliner for the perfect cat eye
+ NYX Sex Bomb Eye Shadow Palette
+ Almay non-comedogenic foundation
+ Simple Micellar Water for makeup removal
Sephora ($$)
+ Tartlette Tease Eye Shadow Palette
+ Nars Sheer Glow Foundation
Never wear non-comedogenic foundation.
It clogs your pores and causes acne.
I am admittedly a makeup novice and also too pressed for time to spend more than 2 minutes on my makeup. The only thing I do everyday (besides moisturizer and sunscreen) is color corrector (Bobby brown), concealed (glossier), highlighter (also glossier) and eye liner (Sonia kashuk from target). Also I just discovered that simple micellar water @ACD is referencing and it's rad.
Oh man I just hit the jackpot with this post. I'm a make up addict. I have 3 letters for you: NYX. They're literally nothing above $10 and they're all really good quality. I use their butter lip gloss, eyeliners and pore minimizer. Find this brand at Ricky's or they have a flagship store now in union square.
I would highly recommend Morphe eyeshadow palettes. You get 35 shadows for $24.99. And they're super pigmented and amazing. Sephora brand shadows are actually surprisingly creamy and pigmented. I think they're $12 each.
The things I would not go drugstore for are skin products - foundation, concealer, setting powder. Splurge on these bc you do get what you pay for. Foundation depends on your skin - I have combination skin and use Sephora brand which is a mousse consistency that works well for me. Hourglass is also really good. For concealer, the holy f*cking grail is Tarte's Shape Tape. It's full coverage and amazing. Make up artists everywhere are obsessed w it to the point where it's usually sold out. Highlighter I'd recommend Becca powders or Benefit Girl Meets Pearl (liquid). Blush I kind of just use anything - no need to splurge here IMO. Liquid liner I use Kat Von D tattoo liner. Worth it if you're new to make up bc it doesn't bleed.
If you want lip color, matte you obviously have MANY choices though my favorite brands for it are Kylie (I know, I know) or Anastasia Beverly Hills for a splurge BUT Sephora just came out with a new matte liquid lipstick line and it's really good so I'd give that a go first.
Finally, none of this all matters if you don't have good brushes to apply it. Morphe brushes are inexpensive and good quality. And get a beauty blender to apply foundation. Best purchase i've ever made.
Have I overwhelmed you yet? :)
Ok got more: love urban decay one and one for light face coverage, KNOCK OFF beauty blenders on amazon are better than the original, GET YOURSELF AN EYEBROW PENCIL bc damn what a difference (bbrowbar and glossier are dope), benefit blushes/bronzers, NARS orgasm anything, Kat mf'ing von d liquid lipstick (Sephora also does a good knock off for $6 less), primers forever (you'll have to play around to find the best for you but smashbox is pretty trustworthy), anddddd iunno, I love walgreens' jordana eyeliner for $2.
^agreed. Also, what kind of moisturizers do you guys use?
Try nyx
Everyday look (5-7 mins)
- SPF 15 or 30 oil free moisturizer
- MAC *foundation, translucent or matte powder, lipcolor
A maybeline eyeliner and mascara (after eyelash curler)
For the extras (5-7 more mins)
- Este Lauder or Lancôme eye shadow and blush
* MAC foundation costs you about $30 a bottle and lasts like 3-4 months. Totally worth it.
I bet we would 💕
Maybelline master conceal. Physicians formula BB cream. The one thing to splurge on is eye shadow base. I love Lorac behind the scenes. Helps the shadow and liner stay in place for those long agency hours.
Sephora brand matte lip color lasts all day. My go-to.
