I just got another form rejection email, this time for a recruiting role I really, really wanted. This one is somewhat different though, as the recruiter had previously responded to my email inquiry saying I was on the short list and she would be calling me for an interview after the comp closed. Is this typical? Should I reach out to see why this has changed from a week ago?

Is it bad manners or just a bad idea to go back to a recruiter if they got you a job that wound up being a bad fit?
For context, I don’t think they misled me. The job changed 3 weeks after I got hired, and got stuck in a role that’s just not a good fit. Gave it 6 months of honest effort and I’m ready to start job hunting.
I saw this recruiter make a post on LinkedIn, and I liked working with them the first time, and I want to reach out. But I don’t know what they’ll think.
