Head held high, you've earned the power to call yourself a lieutenant, so don't hesitate when making decisions that you're sure you're doing well.
If you have a good relationship with your classmates, it may deteriorate, but it's normal. Seek to be respected without harming anyone, and don't worry, in time they will become friends again.
Attack the corrupt and racists that you have always seen, they are an embarrassment to the force and only make our colleagues more dangerous in the streets.
Best of luck. friend! A new job is always exciting, and in law enforcement even more! Just focus on doing a good job, don't let anything sidetrack you from your main goal.
My advice would be to suss out the bad apples inside the force and stay away from them, or at least don't let them influence you. As someone else commented, there is so much shady stuff going on all the time that you don't want to find yourself involved with
Depending on what city you're working in, things may be more or less complicated for you, even if people say that all police forces are bad. Don't let the public's opinion get to you. If you're confident in your job and your duty, no one can bring you down from that.
