I just moved to the area and I am a college student. I don't have much experience in any work field, and I'm struggling to find a job, is there any tips or tricks or is it all luck?

My peers have found jobs with their little experience, so I'm feeling a bit discouraged about it. Regardless, I'm still applying but none ever get back to me.

That’s a good question, if you’re in school, that’s always a start. Maybe try contacting a recruiter for your field, the key is to get a bunch of interviews. Basically, you have to stand out somewhere in the process. I like referrals because I can just ask the employee about the candidate.

Are you looking to stay in the restaurant world? I landed my most recent job by walking into the place, asking if the manager was available, and speaking to them about being a local student and wondering if they had any availability. I did this with about 12 different restaurants, and it just happened to work out with one of them.

Definitely networking. If your friends are working in the same field you’re looking in, ask them to try and get you an interview. I also pay attention to people who follow up on their application by calling or stopping by, even if I can’t interview them right then it makes a good impression on me.

Thank you for this, I'll definitely keep this in mind when applying from now on. If none of my friends are in the same field, how should I network?

Honestly it’s just numbers. Go around as many places as you can and ask if they’re hiring. Someone is bound to give you a chance!

Hello, you might try getting hooked up with the temp apps, Instawork, BlueCrew, Worthwhile, they always need good culinary people for sports concessions, concerts, banquets, and the like. You place yourself because you choose the jobs when and where you'd like to work, it's the ultimate in flexibility. Statistics cite that a full 35% of jobs today are from temp gig work. It's not a hidden job market, per se, but at times it can be an unknown job market. Go to Apple or Google Play store, download the apps, go from there. Also, staffworx is a temp agency used for servers and bussers and the like, it's used quite heavily at times.

Hi folks, I have 6.5yrs of experience in Java, Springboot, Microservices. Does anyone have any idea about Optum Global Solutions, Hyderabad. I was told that the Project which I will be assigned to is an IVR application responsible for middleware services and the shift will be from 2 pm-12 am. Any idea which project is it going to be and how is the work going to be? Do they expect us to extend beyond 12 am on a regular basis?

I’m a first year associate (almost second year). I work at a national firm and I’m not a litigator. When I started with the firm, I was told I could work out of any office. Long story short, I regret choosing the office that I chose. I’d like to transfer to another office - is that a difficult ask? I’m licensed in the state I’d like to transfer to. I don’t know how to make this request.

So I work as an assistant manager at a restaurant for the past 9 months. I've worked in restaurants for the past 6 years science I was 16. Now I'm 22. I went to a trade school for media and film. I got a dream opportunity to work in the field making about the same or 10% more. I told myself the only reason I'd leave this company is for this type of job. Should I take the chance at this job and leave the restaurant that is on the rise and growing?

Should I try to negotiate a raise or look for other opportunities?
