I keep hearing about slowdowns/freezes/layoffs in tech and consulting hiring, yet US Employment statistics keep pointing towards consistent or even higher job postings. Is it just that labor demand is increasing in other sectors?

I have some internships and some freelance under my belt since graduating portfolio school, and a current laptop that’s running on fumes ha.

Thoughts on Wealth Management as an industry? Offered a role to work under a senior FA and eventually take over the book (~$800M AUM and growing). It sounds great, but I am worried about the disruption this industry is facing with Robo advisors and other low cost, DIY options. One of the reasons I want to transition from industry to consulting (tier 1) is that I get frustrated when I have to collaborate with mediocre people. My assumption is that Tier 1 consulting firms hire really sharp people and if I can get in, I’ll be collaborating with folks on top of their game (not expecting much from clients). I’m aware there are personal aspects I need to work on like my mindset, patience etc etc, but I just get so frustrated with blatant stupidity.
