I know my co-workers were being funny but is it okay that I'm slightly offended that I was given this as a gift for an occasion at our company? I just feel sad because I've never been demanding or entitled or whatever else Karens are supposed to be. Help me see this in a different light, dear fellow female bosses :)

I think that’s the point of the gift. They know you’re not a “Karen” when it comes to the stereotype, but your name is Karen.

Playing devil’s advocate, I might light-heartedly confirm with them that they don’t think you have Karen tendencies. Sometimes people use humor to convey what they’re really thinking. Be prepared for what you get back either way.

Ehh there are worse things to be offended about. I personally don’t waste my energy on little things like this. I would laugh and move on lol.

The irony is, the fact that you cant take the joke makes you a Karen. lol

I have a direct report who is smart, passionate about her job and can be really innovative. However she carries this enormous weight of responsibility, for needing to do everything, do it right, make sure it's perfect, not trusting colleagues to help. I just left a very toxic work place.
The crazy thing is they were just named the best local municipality to work for. It's upsetting. They advertise a "culture" but don'tapply it.
