The disproportionate number of layoffs are within the blue collars. There are still plenty of high-income people working from home in major cities
Many of the people being laid off are not as fortunate as those purchasing houses.
There isn’t one group of people. There are those with money and those without.
There are people who love close to the line and when they loose their job they are in trouble. The people who have lost their jobs so far are those in the service economy, think hair dressers, Resturant workers.
So far those with means are still working from home (lawyers, accountants, consultants) are still earning money. These are the people who will buy houses, they have the money for a down payment and when the time comes they’ll rent out part of it to the Resturant workers etc.
Not the people buying houses with views.
