Got an offer for a sales applications manager role at Cisco and a Strategic AE role at Amazon - both are basically the same pay (130~ base, 220 OTE)
I don’t have any friends at either company so I was curious if anyone has experience and can shed some light on culture/ work life balance to help me make a decision? Thanks for the help guys!

FAANG can be a stepping stone to a ton of in-house opportunities if it happens to not work out, I’d suggest taking the leap! (Unless you have pause for some substantial reason)
So I should have said I’m currently at an F10 not FAANG but the pay is substantially more at FAANG. I don’t currently feel like I’m in a bad spot for getting future opportunities.
What specifically is giving you pause about the role? Is whatever you do now something you can go back to (even if at a different employer) if the FAANG position doesn’t work out?
Ding ding ding - I was thinking Meta as well
Take the job. Starting something new can be unsettling at first bc of all the unknowns, but in order to grow you’ll have to embrace new opportunities. You’ll do great and your bank account will do even better 🤑
I never did biglaw either. I went from the nonprofit sector to FB/Meta. There are pros and cons. Depends on what you’re looking for and what your concerns are. It was 100% the right decision for me. Happy to chat more over dm if you want
How is the WLB?
It depends on the FAANG. If Amazon or Meta, you will be busier than if you were at Google. If W/L balance is something you value, get in touch with someone not on the team and see what their perspective is.
Look into the areas about which you have concerns. However, if it isn’t somewhere that you believe you will be unhappy, it is likely a good risk to take if that is the direction you want for your career. I have found that, once you get your foot in the door and can say you have that experience, you can move around more easily on the same level. My approach has always been to take the risk and, if it doesn’t work out, you can always go back. If you pass up an opportunity like this though, what are the chances you will have another similar opportunity?
If at Google - DM me and we can chat.
Will your career options be broader or narrower once in this role? Is there some moral/ideology hesitation with the work? Will the money here allow you, if you choose to, the freedom to later pursue opportunities based solely on expected job satisfaction without worrying about the financials?
Try to get more clarity on the role and the team, so you can be sure that this is what you want and also so you can do a good job if you decide to go there. Good luck!
