I once read a book called the Psychology of Everyday Things and fell in love with the concept of engineering design from a person-centered perspective.

Is this a part of what I/O psychologists do?

Check out Aptima. This is exactly what we do. I’m an IO psych 😊

Not all IOs do this type of work, though. Happy to chat more.

I haven’t read the book, but it sounds like you might be interested in human factors engineering/human factors psychology. I don’t know of many reputable certificate programs, but one good one I’m sure of is at San Diego State (https://ces.sdsu.edu/open-university-certificate-in-industrial-organizational-psychology-io) but I don’t know if it can be done virtually.

You can check out all grad programs here: https://www.siop.org/Events-Education/Graduate-Training-Program

I’m seeing lots of posts about really bad losses. If you trade you’re going to lose money - hopefully not all the time, but many positions will be mistakes. But you need a process to find ideas and manage positions. Two books you should read are “The New Trading for a Livinng” and “The Laws of Trading.” Both look at psychology, process, and risk in different ways that can help you work out your own process. The next 18 months will be much harder than the last 18 - time to start learning.
