As a manager, when do you know you’re ready for the senior manager level?

You are never ready for the next level. Once you feel getting comfortable at your current level, push your way to the next level.

like

^pretty much that. They'll put you up for it when they think you are ready.

Most of the times I’ve seen it when you pseudo put yourself up for it

When you can run a project with little to no senior guidance. Basically when you can guide 2+ projects at once.

Managed revenue targets, look em up

Ideally I’d say when you are already meeting the sales and MR targets of a first year SM. Not necessarily formally counted in the systems but can be legitimately reported on your YE etc. Things like being first chair sales on a proposal could give you a big boost.

Network strength is even more important, but is hard to give you an objective and quantifiable metric to judge “when”.

If you have support of the PPMDs that matter for your group/industry/etc. that is really the deciding factor, and if you aren’t already asking those people what else you need to do to be ready, now would be a good to start.

When you start performing at the next level and are successful at it.

Hi everyone, I'm new to Canada and want to start my career here in the Financial and Banking industry. I have passed the CFA level 2 exam and was wondering if I have to complete the Canadian Securities Course (CSC) as most of the job postings here mention about it. I saw that if someone passes at least the CFA level 1 exam then the requirement of CSC is exempted. Can anyone enlighten me about this? As the CSC exam costs above 1000 CAD, I wanted to be sure if I need it before investing behind it.
