Agreed. Taking a moment to communicate clearly and thoughtfully can make a big difference in how that first impression lands.
In that initial call I always remember the line about how you've only got one chance to make a good first impression. So it's important to be personable and alert and show some enthusiasm. I've talked to recruiters who have said some people just seem lackluster at the outset and that gets noted. One of the things people think about is what you'd be like to work with in a team, so it honestly counts for a lot to come off as a normal friendly person.
That’s a great point. The recruiter call often sets the tone for the whole process, so showing genuine interest and being personable really does matter.
