I really want some clear cut long term career goals and ambitions. But working in risk and reg I haven’t found anything yet that really grasps my desire. But my seniors keep asking me where I want to go but in all honesty I just keep bouncing from one project to another trying to do a good job. Does anyone have any ideas how I can find my future career path?

What I see in terms of career paths is that there’s the two main ones of joining the client in a risk and reg capacity or pursuing a career in a consulting. Maybe another less thought of option would be joining a regulatory body. I’ve been thinking about this recently too since the ceiling seems to usually be quite low at a banks and asset managers for risk and regulation related roles and aiming for partner is quite the commitment. Especially at my firm & region one also does audit work, which I find draining. I’m thinking of trying to go for a MBB Finance & Risk role to try and get more meaningful work. One priority for me is also being able to go abroad for a while which is a major factor influencing 3-5 year outlook since it would be best to stay with a global firm for that. Maybe that’s one aspect to consider

Whoa I was just blindsided by client. Turns out that they have been running the exact same project in parallel, just to see if we could do something better. We came up with similar recommendations.

Any advice for assigning important tasks to the AMP/MP level? While I’m typically good at delegating, our monthly billing package is complex and VERY important to our client.

My two direct reports left shortly after I joined the agency and I inherited a sh*tty error-prone process. While typically an AMP task, I made strides to reinvent it. My new AMP is only 4mo into the workforce and my MP is 1mo on the account. I’m drowning in other tasks but having trouble shaking this one 😖
