Hello, what is working in retail banking like at JPMorgan Chase ? Specially the branch manager role. I’m looking in the Columbus area. How is pay, culture, benefits, sales environment, meetings, etc. How easy is it to transition from retail banking to corporate. I hear the Polaris campus has great opportunities, I was thinking about getting my foot in the door through retail then transferring to corporate ?

Same page as you. I realized being patient plays a part. I sporadically see job postings on LinkedIn but seem to get filled up. I am just gonna hold out and wait until I can transfer within the firm
Tbh the government stuff doesn't help at all. Really only one year of useful experience. Apply to some mid tiers and see if you get some hits but even that might be a stretch. Persistence is key though. If you want it make it happen
Networking makes a big difference. Ask your friends to refer you to recruiter for advisory who will then refer you to the team.
SA1 I saw ey lay off people too but they have posted a bunch of ads as well
There is a sizeable gap between audit and FDD from what I've heard. I was B4 valuations and most auditors I work with has very very limited knowledge of how to jump from financial statement to financial statement. Think of things like NWC, margins, earnings, etc. It's honestly a hard sell.
With that said, nothing is impossible. But your best bet is to network like crazy with FDD people within KPMG and pray for an internal transfer.
Also, you only had one rejection so far...that ain't bad. For this kind of jump, expect 90 rejections out of 100. Have a thick skin, keep it up!
OP, I dont think applying to different geographies is gonna work but I could be wrong. However, you've limited yourself to just 4 firms in a time of extreme economic uncertainty, especially for the FDD group. I dont see the rationale to doing that. I get the ambition but you should really cast a wider net. You can't let a EY rejection demoralize you if you are already fighting an uphill battle in so many different ways. Lick your wounds and keep going because that's the only way to get what you want.
I’m in FDD at KPMG and we typically have a summer audit rotation program where A2’s join us for a few months and transfer over full-time after completing their busy season. This program isn’t happening this year but should be coming back soon. Try to get some face time with people in FDD and get a referral into that audit rotation program when it comes back around. It’s a pretty sure shot from there.
Thank you!
But that’s the only reason I’d be staying. Does anyone have any leads? Any advice? I’m literally willing to move to any major city in the U.S. for the right fit.
(Posted this in another bowl as well).
Fair point
Why do you want to do it so badly? Just curious don’t know much about it
I worked in FDD (straight out of school though not from audit). It was hit pretty hard by the economic downturn so not going to be a ton of hiring going on at the moment. It will pick up eventually, but I’m sure each firm has its own plan for when they will hire again. Honestly getting one here of senior audit experience will make you way more qualified. Government audit work doesn’t help you at all but the commercial will. Best bet might be to go mid tier then switch to Big 4 if that’s what you want.
Hey I’m in FDD at KPMG. Please direct message me (if that is possible, please let me know if it isn’t) and we can connect to discuss the work, how to interview, how to frame your resume. I am extensively involved in recruiting so I’ve picked up a few tricks and I’m happy to help.
Just DM’d you!
